They Returned by Another Way
Matthew 2:12
After worshiping Jesus, the wise men were ready to return home.
It seemed that their journey had come to an end.
Yet Matthew records one final and important detail.
Having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, they went back to their own country by another route.
Herod had claimed that he wanted to worship the child, but his true intention was to kill Him.
God protected the wise men by giving them a clear warning.
They responded with immediate obedience.
They did not insist on their original plan.
They trusted God’s direction.
Following God does not always mean taking the easiest road.
Sometimes it means changing our plans because His wisdom is greater than ours.
The Bible does not simply say that the wise men chose another road.
It says they obeyed God’s revelation and returned by another way.
That is the mark of genuine faith.
When we truly encounter Jesus, we become people who listen to God’s voice and obey His leading.
May we also be willing to change our direction whenever God speaks, trusting that His way is always the safest and best.
