창세기 43:24–25 두려움의 집이 환대의 집이 되다 청지기는 형제들을 요셉의 집 안으로 들였습니다. 그는 그들에게 물을 주어 발을 씻게 하고 그들의 당나귀에게도 먹이를 주었습니다. 이것은 고대 문화에서 손님을 환영할 때 하는 행동이었습니다. 조금 전까지 형제들은 노예가 될까 두려워하고 있었습니다. 그러나 실제로 일어난 일은 전혀 달랐습니다. 그들은 요셉의 집에서 식사를 하게 될 것이라는 말을 들었습니다. 두려움 속에 들어온 집이 환대가 준비된 집이었습니다. 성경에서 식탁은 종종 회복과 화해의 시작을 의미합니다. 형제들은 아직 그것을 알지 못했지만 그 집 안에서는 이미 화해를 향한 이야기가 시작되고 있었습니다.

Meeting Grace in the Midst of Fear When Joseph’s brothers were brought into his house, they were afraid. They said to one another, “We are brought here because of the money that was returned in our sacks. He will accuse us and make us slaves.” Their hearts were filled with fear. But what they expected did not happen. Joseph’s steward said to them, “Peace be with you. Do not be afraid. Your God, the God of your father, has given you treasure in your sacks.” They expected judgment, but what they encountered was a word of peace. A guilty heart often interprets every situation as punishment. Yet God sometimes reveals unexpected grace in the very place where we expect fear. The house they entered with anxiety became a place where they heard peace.

창세기 43:18–23 두려움 속에서 은혜를 만나다 형제들은 요셉의 집으로 들어가게 되었을 때 두려워했습니다. 그들은 서로 말했습니다. “지난번 자루에서 발견된 돈 때문에 우리를 여기로 데려온 것이다. 우리를 죄인으로 만들고 종으로 삼을 것이다.” 형제들의 마음에는 두려움이 가득했습니다. 그러나 그들이 예상한 일은 일어나지 않았습니다. 요셉의 청지기는 이렇게 말합니다. “평안하라. 두려워하지 말라. 너희 하나님, 너희 아버지의 하나님이 너희 자루에 보물을 주셨다.” 형제들은 심판을 예상했지만 그들이 만난 것은 평안의 말이었습니다. 죄를 지은 사람의 마음은 쉽게 두려워합니다. 그래서 모든 상황을 심판처럼 해석하기도 합니다. 그러나 하나님은 종종 우리가 두려워하는 자리에서 예상하지 못한 은혜를 보여 주십니다. 형제들이 두려워하며 들어온 집에서 그들은 평안을 듣게 되었습니다.

Walking Into Fear, Yet Being Invited In The brothers returned to Egypt. In their hands they carried the gifts Jacob had prepared, double the money, and Benjamin with them. When they stood before Joseph, their hearts were likely filled with fear. But Joseph’s response was unexpected. He told the steward of his house, “Bring these men into the house. Slaughter an animal and prepare a meal, for these men will dine with me at noon.” The brothers expected punishment. Instead, they received an invitation. Scripture often reveals this surprising pattern. We approach God with fear, yet He invites us to His table. Joseph bringing his brothers into his house quietly anticipates the reconciliation and restoration that is still to come.
