After calming the storm, Jesus finally arrived on the other side, in the region of the Gadarenes. There He met two demon-possessed men who came out from among the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. People were afraid of them. People avoided that road. But Jesus did not avoid it. He entered the place others were afraid to enter. “Son of God!” Just before this event, the disciples had watched Jesus calm the storm and asked: “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey Him!” Then something remarkable happened. The demons answered the question in a way the disciples had not yet fully understood. They cried out: “Son of God!” The disciples were still discovering who Jesus was, but the demons recognized His identity and authority. They even knew that a time of judgment was coming.
