Matthew chapter 2 begins with a remarkable question:
“Where is the One who has been born King of the Jews?”
Surprisingly, this question was not asked by the religious leaders in Jerusalem but by wise men from the East.
They traveled a long distance with one clear purpose—to worship the King.
Jerusalem had priests, scribes, and people who knew the Scriptures.
Yet the first people to seek Jesus were Gentiles from a distant land.
This reminds us that God’s plan of salvation has always been for all nations.
Long ago, God promised Abraham that through his offspring all the nations of the earth would be blessed.
The visit of the wise men is one of the first signs that this promise was beginning to be fulfilled.
The wise men followed a star, but they did not worship the star.
They worshiped the One to whom the star pointed—Jesus Christ.
The same is true for us today.
Our faith is not about chasing signs, miracles, or blessings.
It is about seeking Jesus Himself.
God still asks each of us the same question:
“What are you truly seeking?”
May we follow the example of the wise men—seeking the true King, finding Him, and worshiping Him with all our hearts.
