God at Work in Hidden Tests
Joseph appeared to show kindness to his brothers and send them on their way, but behind the scenes there was an intentional plan. He had his silver cup placed in Benjamin’s sack.
At first glance, this action is difficult to understand. Why would Joseph, who seemed to have forgiven them, test his brothers again?
However, this scene is not simply deception. It is a providential process designed to reveal what is truly in their hearts.
The brothers carried the guilt of having sold Joseph in the past, yet that sin had not been fully exposed or dealt with. So Joseph created a situation where their true hearts would be brought to light.
Our lives are often similar. At times, God allows situations we cannot understand. Everything may seem peaceful on the surface, and then suddenly problems arise—we are misunderstood, falsely accused, or face circumstances that feel unfair.
But those moments are not merely problems. They are mirrors that reveal our hearts.
God does not allow such tests to make us fall. He works through them to expose what is within us and ultimately to restore us.
So instead of asking, “Why is this happening?” we are invited to ask,
“Lord, what are You revealing through this situation?”
