Walking Into Fear, Yet Being Invited In
The brothers returned to Egypt.
In their hands they carried
the gifts Jacob had prepared,
double the money,
and Benjamin with them.
When they stood before Joseph,
their hearts were likely filled with fear.
But Joseph’s response was unexpected.
He told the steward of his house,
“Bring these men into the house.
Slaughter an animal and prepare a meal,
for these men will dine with me at noon.”
The brothers expected punishment.
Instead, they received an invitation.
Scripture often reveals this surprising pattern.
We approach God with fear,
yet He invites us to His table.
Joseph bringing his brothers into his house quietly anticipates the reconciliation and restoration that is still to come.
