A House of Fear Becomes a House of Welcome
The steward brought the brothers into Joseph’s house.
He gave them water to wash their feet
and fed their donkeys.
In the ancient world, these actions were signs of hospitality.
Only moments earlier, the brothers feared that they would become slaves.
But what actually happened was completely different.
They heard that they would eat a meal in Joseph’s house.
The house they entered in fear
became a place of welcome.
In Scripture, a table often marks the beginning of restoration.
The brothers did not yet realize it,
but inside that house the story of reconciliation had already begun.
