The cost of Abandoning God (Jeremiah 2: 9-19)

Do you believe that your God whom you believe in is true living God?

You think who is more powerful, God or Buddha?

Even idol worshipers did not follow other gods but they remained faithful to their idol.

But the people of Israel always try to serve other idols while worshiping the true God.

They always hesitate that fully trust God. They don’t have one heart and always their hearts were divided. One heart for the Lord, and the other heart for other gods.

Who are the men? Hands up please.?

You have to love only one girl, my husband loves me only.

If my husband loves me, and other girls, many many girls, then it’s problem.

If you are man or girl, you have to have only one girl friend or boy friend. Right?

But if you like 빨래와, and 빨래뽀, 말타, 헬렌…then it’s very problem. Right?

Then you are the not the one who have only one heart, your heart divided in many pieces.

It is no good. Especially, when love God, if your heart divided like that God don’t like it.

In fact, God hates it.

If you love God, and same time if you love money, and love evil thoughts and speaking laying, stealing, it is not right way to serve God. And God hates it.

            God pointed out clearly to the Israelites their sins. First they abandoned God, the giver of life. And second, they exchanged God for false idols. God declared that he would deal with these Israelites by the law. However, these foolish Israelites didn’t turn back to God, and they continued to seek visible forms of help instead of God.

            We love God, but many times we trust rich and powerful people’s help, we trust more money, we trust more our own wisdom, or knowledge. God said it  is betrayal to God.

God punished Israel by raising up against them the nations of Egypt and Assyria, whom the people of Israel had depended on. We should be careful, if you love and trust money more than God, God will punish you by the money problems. And if you more depend on the people who have power and rich enough to help you, then one day, the people will against you. It is God’s punishment. 

            God is asking to the people of Israel, “ is Israel a slave? Is he a homeborn servant? Why then has he become a prey?” God didn’t call them as servants, but the family of God, and He gave them freedom. But they themselves became servants of Egypt and Assyria. And they threw away their freedom.

Like this God call you and me, God’s children, no matter who you are. Are you feel lonely sometimes, and you feel you are alone? You feel you are not enough because you don’t have father and mother? No worries, I’m also an orphan, I don’t have father and mother, but I don’t care, because I have heavenly Father.

You don’t have family don’t worries, you have great Father. He is living God, and He is more powerful. The Father says, this morning to you. You are not a servant, you are not homeborn servant, you are my son, and daughter. I love you. Don’t throw away your freedom, don’t throw away your noble standing, don’t make yourself servants again by loving money, evil thoughts, depending on people. I have enough ability and power and rich to help you, and to save you. Just trust in me, just follow my guide. Amen?
